Not the Quality I Hoped For - 2 Years On. Having used this machine for almost 2 years i really would not recommend that you buy it. The dropping spindle is hopeless. The scales, which i originaly considered a good feature, are not accurate. The bowl has cracked, and i don't put it in the dishwasher. The replacement time for the bowl is 6 weeks. The grating disk central plastic cog has snapped. The engine can't cope with kneeding. As has been commented before the ideas in this product are great, but the quality is very poor so it can't carry out what it says. I don't know what the alternative is, but don't waste your money on this machine. I did a lot of research before i bought this machine however i don't think i got the best machine for the money. The spindle falling out every time you lift the mixing bowl off the base is more than a little annoying, it's a design fault. If you want this machine to knead dough it won't. Mine started burning up and smoke came out of it when i tried to get it to knead. It mixes ok but doesn't like a full load. It does grate vege and cheese really well. The weighing scales are a really good feature. I feel sure there must be a better machine available for the money. My old morphy richards could do the same, if not better job at half the price. .
I Love the Scales. I bought this because my previous kenwood food processor had served me well for nearly 20 years and i wanted something almost identical. I went for this model because i wanted a neater base unit and i love the idea of built in scales. The scales are a brilliant idea and i will always love it for that. Bear in mind though that they are quite sensitive and if you nudge it too hard or run the food processor, the weight reading will change. You can't add ingredients while it is running and get an accurate weight. The most annoying feature is the central spindle which just sits in place without locking in firmly which means that every time you take off the bowl you are likely to nudge the spindle enough to topple it onto the floor. Luckily it seems to be quite a strong nylon type of plastic. This has a larger capacity than my old machine but i can't make any more cake mix or soup than i used to. Obviously i must have routinely overloaded my old machine. If you fill over the line on this one, it will leak over the top in the centre where the blade fits. So, no overloading allowed now. Best to liquidize soup in the pan with a little whizzer thing anyway. I'm very happy with mine, it works about as well as my old one and has the brilliant scales. I just need to work ot how to store all those gadgets, they really do take up loads of space. Update august 2015: the scales still work (be careful that they are not pushed up against anything or sitting on the lead as this can affect the reading). The handle is coming off (poor design just so it can have a metallic finish. I'd rather it was one solid piece of plastic). The bits of plastic for feeding carrots etc into the grater are chipped because they have been dropped and the plastic is more brittle than ideal. Great for cakes. Could do much better for grating and slicing (lots of bits get missed). Most of the attachments never used. Still love the built in scales. .
