I've never used a stick blender before, but heard good things about them. Made a banana milk shake with it the other night, using the jug. Put the milk in first, broke the banana, threw it in, plus the other ingredients and then put the stick in - switched on and braced myself for splashes etc. There were none - this thing is awesome, it makes a vacuum and sucks itself down into the mix and absolutely blitzed my milk shake - better than my kenwood blender on my food processor - sometimes, when i make the same milkshake in the old blender, there are small chunks of nana left, which is a nono for me - there was none of that with this tool. It is seriously powerful too - only needed to use half power for this job. If i had a reservation, it would be that the balloon whisk looks a little bit feeble, but it's still better than the plastic whisk fitment that came with my food processor and cost 3 or 4 times as much money as this set up. If you're looking for a stick blender combo set, then i don't think you can go far wrong with this lot. It's good quality, the shaft is stainless steel (not metal covered plastic) and it all goes in the dishwasher - which is crucial to me. .
Very Good - If Yours Overheats, Leave It Alone For 30 Mins. Purchased for chopping and pulsing primarily. Comes in very handy as it's quick and easy. Have chopped veggies quickly and pulsed ingredients to make up burgers/meatballs/sauces. The unit did stop working while pulsing but, reading on the phillips website, there is an overheat cut-off inside the unit that should activate if the unit is over-working. The advice is to leave the unit alone for 15 mins, i left it alone for 30 mins (as it still felt warm to touch after 15 mins), replaced the fuse in the plug as a precaution and it's working fine again. .
